Hi! 

I am Miss Etters, and I am the ninth-grade English teacher at Ninety Six High School. This is my second year of teaching at NSHS, and I am so blessed to continue working with these students, teachers, and district. 

My classes consist of English I Honors, English I CP, and Creative Writing. Every year, my curriculum changes and improves. There is always something new that is added or changed from the previous year. This allows me to diversify my students’ learning and activities. I prefer whole group learning with my students, because I believe my students thrive from explicit instruction and teacher-guided instruction. Although, I truly believe responsibility is a key element of young adult. My students are given a lot of responsibility in my classroom (keeping up with papers, remembering the schedule, bringing materials to class, etc.). They are also held to a high standard, and I remind them of this multiple times throughout the year. 

A huge part of my class is our “Weekly Participation” grade. Every week, each student begins the week with a free 100 grade in the gradebook. Throrughout the week, the student can lose points depending on their behavior and engagement. Participation is based on their behavior within the classroom and their engagement with the lesson and work. There are multiple things that a student can do to lose points, but students also have an opportunity to not lose points! If a student is engaged and well-behaved during the week, they will not lose any points and they will keep the free 100 in the gradebook!

During the fall, I coach the JV Volleyball team. Being said, I am slightly more busy after school during the season. Nevertheless, my students are first focus, so I am still available to work with a student during the day or during class.
